SIM card reader designed with tray function Yamaichi Electronics launches the FMS006-7000-0, a very low-profile SIM card reader equipped with a tray. The special feature of this 6-pin reader is the tray function which is particularly suitable for applications requiring a frequent change of the SIM card or the easy access to the card without opening of the enclosure.

The SIM card is placed in the tray and then inserted with the tray into the card reader. Thus the SIM card is completely protected by the card reader housing. The stop function of the tray is a major advantage.

This means that it can be extracted only to a defined distance in order to allow the comfortable placing and withdrawal of the card. But if required the tray can also be removed completely from the reader through additional pulling force.

The gold-plated two-point contacts ensure uninterrupted contact reliance during vibrations and shocks. The 1.61mm low-profile is well suited for applications with strongly reduced design space.

The assembly is carried out on the bottom side of the PCB by means of SMT soldering (reversed type). The SIM card reader is supplied on tape and reel and the tray in trays for fully automated pick and place assembly.
